Nothin' But Grilled Cheese

Sorry I haven't been in much of a cooking mood this week — it's been pretty hectic. We went to my dad's for dinner on Wednesday night (which was awesome, of course: pork chops with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts) and then last night I wasn't feeling all too well so we just had soup and grilled cheese.

Of course, grilled cheese should merit some sort of a discussion here. (Sadly the soup was not homemade — it was late and I was really hungry, although the latest issue of Saveur has got me major craving Udon.) I agree with Alton Brown that "the way" to make grilled cheese is with shredded cheese and two very hot pans. I'd bother to write it down, but the Food Network already did for us. I use Pam, and not olive oil. But yeah. Also, there was some very thinly sliced apples on it. And the cheese was Cabot hunter's cheddar, just for it's super sharpness.

TacosBut tonight you ask? Friday night? The big night? I'm too tired and uninspired to cook tonight, so it's delivery. But hey — you can't beat a decent taco. Which is what we'll be ordering.

Tomorrow though! Tomorrow I make chicken stock. And possibly tortilla soup for dinner. The jury is still out on that one.
