Sorry I really haven't been posting recently. If it makes you feel better, I haven't been cooking recently so there's been very little to talk of. Mostly due to an obnoxious bout of carpal tunnel that cropped up on Thursday when I was peeling potatoes. It got worse on Friday and, thanks to my wrist brace, is only getting better now.
Also, aside from the pancakes I made on Friday for Julie and her mom, it's been leftovers for us all until about Sunday night, but you read about that already. That was some good mojo though. Monday night was a holiday party for work, so I kind of don't remember much other than some horrible barbeque at like 11PM which was mostly more about beer than food. Tuesday was a hangover so it involved ordering Chinese food at 7PM and sitting on the couch for four hours in pajamas trying to collect my thoughts.
But last night I had some of the best sushi I've had in New York (and by that I mean it's the first time it's cost more than $50 a person). Some fried oysters, some amaebi, giant clam, hamachi, toro, tako. Tonight is my friend Alice's pizza party (vegan for her, but not for me!) and tomorrow is Drew's birthday so no cooking until at least Saturday.
But I do have a nice smoke-y turkey carcass in the freezer so I might be time to make some bacon-less black bean soup. Or maybe a smoke-filled tortilla soup. Let the scheming begin.
Also, you should read my friend's blog posts at Snooth. I'll be the first to admit I know next to nothing about wines, but I'm trying to learn. And this is as good of a place to start as any!
And finally, the last Thanksgiving photo, I swear:

I'm no chef. I'm barely a cook. And certainly not in the professional sense. I work in mobile for a living, but I enjoy cooking almost as much as I love
